Sue – I know of many who have also been targeted and lost a lot of data, and forcing them to format.
Backups are essential, not only of files and folders but also drivers which can make reinstallation a lot less painful.
I regularly backup to an external drive and it is only attached when backing up so it reduces the chances of cross infection should I ever get a virus etc.
Hope that you manage to get all of your data back.
Take care my dear friend and have a good day,
Colin

I have just read two posts from people who have had personal attacks on their PC’s and blogs – i.e. they were targeted. I have just lost all my data due to an error when reformatting a drive. Makes me realize that what you are saying here is so important. (I have managed to get back most of my data but it has taken me days to put it all back together again – deleted files being restored but in thousands of different folders – finding it all and putting it back in the right place has been so time consuming.
