Gizmo – Lavasoft AdAware is a superb free tool which frequently out performs many of the paid for adware/spyware programs.
Two others that are also excellent and free are Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, which are gaining popularity as they have slightly definition patterns and remove many more items that lurk on computers.
I am pleased to hear that it removed so many infections from your computer, that is excellent news

I downloaded this as an after thought as my system was running like a bag of dog doo!!!. My own scanning software(that I paid for) said system was clean, but after downloading and running this found I had over 100 infections, including in my start menu. was over the moon.. removed my old software, and wrotE a scathing email to the company who claim there’s was “bullet proof”.
Adaware is forever for me. It just proved to me you dont always get the best deal by paying for things. THE BEST REALLY DOES COME IN SMALL PACKAGES!!!!!

Wayne Yong – There is no serial number required in the Free Version of Ad-Aware 2008. When installing the program, when you get to ‘Please Ebter Your License Information’ simply click the ‘Use Free’ button on the right.

Doug – The 2008 version is pretty neat, with an updated GUI and more incorporated into the scans, which is a good thing. As with any antispyware/adware program I would not rely solely upon one as definitions do vary.

Tammy – 2007 version is good, this is another updated version with better scan definitions and scans for more than just adware.

I just scanned mine with 2007 last night and it didn’t find anything. Woohoo! I’ll wait until you have time sometime to put this new one on for me cuz you so nice to me. ;o)

Bbrian – It’s always worth doing a scan, you never know what’s been picked up along the way
This is one of the more popular ones and the updated version, although a bit slower on a full scan, does a great job.
