Sue – You’re welcome

They had changed AVG too much, incorporating anti-rootkit and anti-spyware which were standalone programs previously, so I think they have shot themselves in the foot in doing so.
Sandboxie is great, although it is worth the small one time payment for a lifetime license, but it keeps all malware out unless specifically recovered by the user.
I run everything is a sandbox now and there is nothing to clean up afterwards
Have a great day my dear friend,
Colin

Thanks Colin – the fact that not all functions were available in the free version was a bit of a worry for me too. I will check out Sandboxie too.

Sue – AVG has been causing quite a few problems since the upgrade to V8, before that it was fine, but I no longer recommend it as many functions do not work in the free version and it is also somewhat bloated. More details Click Here.
I have been using Avast for a while and basically it just sits there and does what it has to do, but I also use Sandboxie for surfing which cuts out all malware.
Take care my dear friend,
Have a great day,
Colin

Hi Colin
I have been having problems with the free AVG version 8 – error messages come up on both my XP and Vista machines and I am worried that I do not have full protection. Would Avast be your recommended free antivirus program now?
