"I can't find a the perfect word to attach to this website's image because it is out of this world. No matter what type of Computer Security System you are interested in, you'll find help and quality content here. The content is awsome, well displayed and well arranged. The menu and speed is excellent. Navigation, Response and Relevance are also the best of the best. I don't even have to mention the Links because i must admit that i have never seen any better. I will let other people say more or invent other words because it really does suit it! Keep doing what you are doing now because you are exactly on the right path! Thanks for sharing! BOOKMARKED!"

There are many sites which users are clicking on and downloading fake antivirus programs, in some cases they are also installed as drive-by downloads.

Bryan – Thanks for your comment.
I advise all users to create a separate folder on their desktop and to rename it Downloads, then everything that is downloaded is easy to find and scan, not only with antivirus but also antimalware programs.
As you say, there are many malicious programs that appear to be genuine but are the cause of the problem for many people.
They are also becoming more devious in there methods as it is a very lucrative business that raked in over $30 million in 6 months!
With the constant name changes and tweaks, it is easy for the unwary to be caught out and removal methods vary with the many different forms of malware implanted as backdoor trojans and rootkits.
    It’s a long battle!

  2. Thanks for the warning!

The tip I always give clients is to save any program they download on a pre-determined folder and scan it with a reliable antivirus software before running it. This can stop some malicious softwares before they do any damage.

Problem is, seems like anyone can upload program for submission to these freeware/software download sites — and they’ll even name it to something that sounds like the ORIGINAL valid program.

steved123 – Your link has been removed as Search-and-destroy is a rogue program, rated as dangerous and trying to gain customers through misusing the good name of Spybot Search & Destroy.

Rid of those pesky bugs you pick when surfing the net.
One of the first things that I learned when I got my new computer was that if you own a PC then you better have a good antispyware scanner to help get rid of those pesky bugs you pick when surfing the net. Otherwise, your computer won’t keep running like new for very long. It will begin to slow down and eventually get so sluggish you won’t even be able to use it. I tried a variety of different scans before I ran across Search-and-destroy Antispyware at Search-and-destroy So far I have been very happy with the antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy and very glad that I gave it a try.

Tammy – Quite honestly I would NOT use Norton’s PC Cleanup, there are far better utilities.
Run Norman Malware Cleaner, simply download and run, no installation needed.
    Take care sweetie,

Manish – I would recommend the use of Avast antivirus which is free and you can find more details by clicking here.

Doug – AV2009 and it’s associated fake programs can cause so many problems and sadly many users have been infected with them and also purchased them only to realise that they have been scammed.
The names change frequently, but all lead back to AV2009 and I daresay it won’t belong before they come up with another scam that wreaks havoc.

I won Norton’s PC Cleanup, is it any good? I’m still getting all those adware and now I keep getting a trojan. Virus’s SUCK! How are you feeling?

  10. Great advice!
Yours is one of the easiest set of directions Ive seen concerning removal of the 2009 nasty thats plaguing manu users.
Most are fooled by these rougue programs and just click to close the box or worse, pay the money.
